Our Most Common Questions
- Why should I hold an Outdoor Movie?
Outdoor Movies are a fun, family friendly activity that promotes a sense of community and can be enjoyed by just about everyone! It’s both modern and nostalgic all at the same time, and provides a truly unique cinematic experience for movie lovers of all ages!
- Can we have the screen near a pool?
Yes.. Our screen is water resistant and has no blower, thus no power!! it is a free standing screen and we use sandbags to hold screen in place we never stake a screen to the ground! we also provide a rear projection setup for pool parties, we place our speakers next to our projection equipment (about 11 feet away from screen) and rope off the area. We never project across pools as this is a big safety concern to us, please make sure you have sufficient space to provide rear projection when throwing a pool side movie.
- Does it need to be dark to see a picture?
Yes! If your movie is held outdoors we recommend you schedule your start time to be at least 15 minutes after the official sunset time for your location. The last light of sunset will impart a haze. There will be ambient light of a greater or lesser degree that may or may not pollute the purity of the projected image. The screen might have wrinkles in it. There might be kids running around casting shadows everywhere, that's why outdoor movies are fun it brings families and friends together and imparts a nostalgic and fun setting, You can view your local sunset times by visiting our sunset page
- Do I need to obtain a license to show a movie?
Generally, showing a movie outdoors in a location other than your backyard will require a license ie public performance screening. The Federal Copyright Act (Title 17, United States code, Public Law 94-553, 90 Stat. 2541) governs how copyrighted materials, such as movies, may be utilized publicly. Neither the rental nor the purchase or lending of a videocassette or DVD carries with it the right to exhibit such a movie publicly outside the home, unless the site where the video is used is properly licensed for copyright compliant exhibition.
This legal copyright compliance requirement applies to parks and recreation departments, colleges, universities, public schools, day care facilities, summer camps, churches, private clubs, prisons, lodges, businesses, etc. regardless of whether admission is charged, whether the institution is commercial or non-profit or whether a federal, state or local agency is involved.
