Please only use the north entrance to the Swap Meet. If you enter a parking lot and do not see other cars or the screen, you're probably in the wrong lot (south entrance). We do have volunteers watching the other entrance as well, and they will simply instruct you to go to the north entrance where the ticket takers are.
About Cactus Drive-In:
We host pop-up drive-in movie events at the Tanque Verde Swap Meet. Our goal is to raise enough money to bring back a permanent drive-in theater to Tucson! Currently, we show movies in the north parking lot. Keep an eye on our page for news on our schedules and events! We are a 501(c)3 Non Profit Theater.
We are always looking for more volunteers to work at our events. If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, contact us here on Facebook. Volunteers are paid $30 per event and get free entry for themselves and 1 other car for any event they choose to work at!
Hosting drive-in movie events is costly, and as Cactus Drive-In Theatre expands, the costs become exponential. For example, a large screen requires very pricey equipment compared to what we are currently using. A projector that can play the newest movies costs tens of thousands and requires a new kind of license. While drive-in movie events can raise some money and keep the community happy, we will be looking for donations and investors to help us create a drive-in theater at a permanent location. If you are looking to donate, become an investor, or help us find a better location, feel free to contact us!
To prevent our equipment from being damaged, we will cancel a movie in the event of rain, heavy winds, or thunderstorms. If we do cancel an event, all purchased tickets will be refunded prior to the planned movie time. We also post updates across social media platforms, so if it seems like it is going to rain, check up on our page or send us a message if you're wondering whether a movie will still be shown. As weather predictions are not always accurate, we may cancel an event during the same day it will be shown.
If you can't make it to the event or are otherwise unhappy with your experience, we can process a refund for you. If you purchased a ticket online at Eventbrite, send us a message or email if you can't or didn't make the event (we keep track of who purchased online and showed up). Online refunds may be completed up to 3 days after the showing. If you purchased a ticket upfront, you may talk to the ticket takers during the first 30 minutes of the event to get a refund.
If you're looking to get a great spot at the drive-in, arrive at least 20-30 minutes early. If you bring a large vehicle or hatchback that is likely to obstruct the view of others, you will have to park either at the sides or a few rows back. If a volunteer tells you that you have to move, it's likely because you parked a large vehicle/hatchback near the center and are obstructing the view of others.
